Finding ways to motivate contributors is one of the most challenging issues in building a vibrant Collaborative translation community, especially in situations where they are not remunerated for their work.
Surprisingly, having a Point System which somehow quantifies the amount of work a contributor has done, can be a strong motivator. However, this works best if the site provides a way to highlight those who have contributed most, and allow contributors to compare themselves to others.
A Leader Board is simply a publicly available page on the site that allows people to see how much individuals have contributed to the site, and to sort them accordingly. Besides recognizing the good work of the top contributors, it helps foster an atmosphere of Playful Competition Among Contributors.
